Russell Troy Lathrup II, Young Motorcycle Enthusiast, Tragically Dies in High-Speed Collision at Catoosa Intersection, Oklahoma
Russell Troy Lathrup II, aged 24, tragically lost his life in a high-speed motorcycle crash at a busy intersection in Catoosa, Oklahoma, late Thursday night.
Authorities reported that Lathrup was traveling northbound on 193rd East Avenue at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour when he entered the intersection against a red light, resulting in a fatal collision with an eastbound SUV.
Emergency responders, including an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper, arrived promptly and attempted lifesaving measures, but Lathrup was pronounced dead at approximately 10:29 p.m.
The SUV driver sustained minor injuries related to airbag deployment and was treated at a Tulsa-area hospital. Investigators noted that Lathrup had been riding an unregistered 1988 Honda Hurricane motorcycle and was wearing a helmet and protective gear at the time of the crash.
Family, friends, and community members have expressed their sorrow and shared condolences on social media.
