Angush Blu Remembered After Fatal Lumber Truck Crash And Wildfire Near Bethel Lucas Road In Randolph County

Angush Blu died Tuesday afternoon, May 5, 2026, after a tractor-trailer carrying lumber crashed along NC Highway 134 near Bethel Lucas Road in Randolph County.

The northbound truck crossed the centerline, left the roadway, entered a wooded area, and struck several trees before coming to rest.

The load shifted during the crash and caused severe damage to the cab, while flames from the wreckage spread into nearby dry vegetation.

Emergency responders found Angush Blu at the scene, where officials confirmed the passing.

Fire crews worked with the North Carolina Forest Service and brought the wildfire under control after it burned about 1.3 acres.

Authorities closed the road for hours, diverted traffic, and continued their review because they had not determined why the truck crossed the centerline.
