The late Ronald "Riddles" Riddle, a beloved figure in Darwin, sadly passed away on Wednesday, June 12th, 2024. His family is now reaching out to the community for support and assistance to give him the send-off he deserves. Ronald’s granddaughter, Shayla Morris, has organized a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for his funeral.
Ronald Riddle, known affectionately as "Riddles" or "fucknose" to his grandchildren, was a well-known and loveable character in the community. Over the years, he was often seen at the Beachfront Hotel, selling meat tray raffles to raise funds for various causes. The Beachfront was like his first home, with Dowdy Street being his second.
He passed away surrounded by his loved ones at the Darwin Palliative Care. Riddles is survived by his three daughters, Yolande, Joelene, and Lydia, his eight grandchildren—Jordan, Shayla, Keneisha, Denzel, Andrew, Julia, Tyrell, and Stacey—and his great-granddaughter, Kahlea, who he adored.
Shayla Morris, in her heartfelt Facebook post, expressed the family’s gratitude for any support the community can provide. She wrote, "Hi all, our family is reaching out to the wider community for support and assistance for funds to give our father, grandfather, and great grandfather Ronald ‘Riddles’ Riddle the send-off he deserves. If you are able to kindly donate, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts."
The GoFundMe campaign, titled "In Loving Memory of Ronald ‘Riddles’ Riddle," has raised $330 AUD out of the $10,000 goal, with donations from community members like Torrese Bell and Michael Fitzgerald. The family appreciates every donation, which helps them in their time of need.
As the family navigates this difficult period, the community’s support is a testament to the impact Ronald Riddle had on those around him. His selfless acts of fundraising for others are now being reciprocated, ensuring he receives the respectful farewell he truly deserves.
