The late Jaime (Nova Green) was from Okemos, Michigan. Jaime peacefully passed away on Friday, May 17th, at 9:30 pm. Jaime’s close friends, Pat Hursh, Cheryl Dougherty, Diana Whitlock, and Allison Galloway, are working together to arrange her cremation and burial due to her limited family connections.
Jaime’s health had been deteriorating for years. Last November, she moved into an assisted living facility where her condition worsened rapidly. A few weeks ago, she began hospice care, which provided her with much-needed comfort in her final days. Her friends, particularly Pat, visited her frequently during this time.
After the death of their mother 12 years ago, Jaime and her sister Kate co-owned the family house in Okemos. The house was recently sold, but after settling all associated debts, there were no proceeds left for Jaime. She had been living on Social Security and Medicaid and had only $400 in her bank account at the time of her passing.
To cover the costs of Jaime’s cremation, burial, and associated fees, Allison Galloway has organized a fundraiser with a goal of $2,400. As of now, they have raised $1,250 from seven donations. The cremation costs $2,097, and the burial costs $250. They also plan to purchase a headstone for approximately $1,700, but the cremation expenses are more urgent.
Jaime is currently under the care of the Neptune Society. A memorial service and burial at the family plot in Rockford Cemetery are planned for later this summer. Allison and her friends are appealing for any contributions to help meet their goal and lay Jaime to rest.
The support and generosity of the community are crucial during this time, as Jaime’s friends are contributing what they can while living paycheck to paycheck. They urge anyone who knew Jaime to share the fundraiser link to help expedite the process of securing the necessary funds for her final arrangements.
