Heather Marcotte tragically lost her life in a fatal hit-and-run accident while riding her scooter in Key West, Florida, on the morning of June 7th. Heather was a beloved sister, daughter, aunt, and friend. Her brother, Brandon Marcotte, shared his profound grief on Facebook, expressing how devastated he is and how much of a significant part of him is now missing.
"Heather was the most incredible sister I could have ever been blessed with in this life," Brandon wrote. "She was the most kind and loving person you could ever imagine, always giving and loved to see other people happy." He recounted her love for travel and her spontaneous visits to family members across the country, always bringing joy and surprise on special occasions.
In memory of Heather, a GoFundMe campaign was organized by her friend Fabiola Azuaje and her niece Kiarra Marcotte to help cover the expenses of bringing Heather back home to New Hampshire, as well as for her cremation, funeral, and celebration of life. The campaign has raised $1,930 out of the $15,000 goal with contributions from 23 donors, including a recent donation of $125 from Zachary Danney and a top donation of $200 from Shannon Marcotte.
Brandon’s heartfelt post on Facebook has garnered an outpouring of support from friends and family. Dylan Schmertzler commented, "Brother, near, far no matter where you are I’m there for you without question. I will do ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING for you." Daniel Riniker expressed his condolences, saying, "I’m sorry for your loss Brandon, Heather was such a nice person. Sending prayers and hugs to you, Kiara, and Wanda."
Naomi Hartford also shared her sorrow, writing, "She was a beautiful spirit and had so much life left in her. I can’t imagine the pain you are going through." Many others echoed these sentiments, offering their thoughts, prayers, and support during this difficult time.
Brandon and Heather’s family are incredibly grateful for the support and donations they have received so far. The GoFundMe campaign aims to ensure Heather gets the celebration of life she deserves and to ease the financial burden on the family during this tragic time.
