Donald Clark departed this earth on May 11, 2024, at the age of 87 to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A devoted family man, Donald spent the latter years of his life lovingly caring for his wife, Elizabeth. They were married for 65 years, a testament to their enduring love and commitment.
Friendly, gentle, tactful, and charismatic, Donald was always quick to share a smile, a joke, a story, or words of wisdom with anyone and everyone he encountered. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to develop innovative ways to utilize everyday items and design new products for various industries, ranging from cosmetics to aerospace.
The ocean called to Donald, and he answered by attending the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and proudly serving on the S.S. Eagle. His love for the sea fueled his dreams of visiting “far away places with strange sounding names.” He and Elizabeth were blessed to share many travel experiences, often singing ballads and songs together that reminded them of their trips, both past and in planning. Donald also had a passion for dining experiences and good food, often joking about his “see-food” diet.
Donald is lovingly remembered by his children: Donna, Debbie (Leroy), Bill (Gail), and Mark; his grandchildren: Jeremy, Melissa, Jamie (Peter), Cody, Alicia, and Spencer; and his great-grandchildren: Waylon and Westen. He is also survived by his brother Bill (Bettiann) and niece Teri Lynn (Dave), as well as extended family and friends in Scotland. He was predeceased by his parents, Elmer B. and Dorothy (Manasse).
In the wake of his passing, Donald’s family is seeking support to continue the care of his beloved wife, Elizabeth. Jer Lee has organized a fundraiser with a goal of $5,000 to assist with her needs. The family expresses their heartfelt thanks for any donations offered in Donald’s name.
Family and friends will gather for a celebration of life on June 4, 2024, at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home in Arlington Heights, IL. The gathering will take place from 11 am to 2 pm, with a short service starting at 1:00 pm. Small catered refreshments will be available.
