The late Azlan bin Abdullah, from Malaysia, passed away suddenly on the evening of May 18, 2024, in College Park, Maryland. This tragic news comes as a significant blow to his family, who had just arrived in the United States to attend his eldest son’s graduation ceremony at the University of Maryland.
On the morning of May 18, Azlan, along with his wife and youngest son Aqil, landed at Dulles Airport. This was their first visit to the United States, a trip filled with excitement and joy. Unfortunately, during a celebratory gathering with close friends and family, Azlan suffered a heart attack. Despite the immediate efforts of the emergency response team and further emergency care at Shady Grove Hospital, his condition could not be stabilized, and he passed away that evening.
The funeral services were conducted on May 19, 2024. The washing of the jenazah took place at Hakim’s Funeral Home Services, followed by the jenazah prayers at the Islamic Center of Maryland in Gaithersburg after Zuhr. Azlan was then laid to rest at the Al Firdaus Memorial Gardens in Frederick.
Azlan’s passing has left his family in a challenging situation, far from their home in Malaysia. His eldest son, Muhammad Arif Aiman Azlan, has started a fundraising campaign to cover the emergency medical and funeral expenses and provide short-term financial support. The fundraiser has garnered significant support, raising $14,630 of the $15,000 goal, with contributions from 402 donors.
The family expresses their deepest gratitude for the prayers, love, and support received during this difficult time. Muhammad Arif, speaking on behalf of his family, thanked everyone for their thoughtfulness and kindness.
