The late Thomas “Tommy” Leary Jr. was found dead on May 11th at the age of 36 in an Airbnb in Jacksonville, Florida. Born and raised on the island of Oahu, Tommy leaves behind two sons and his mother, Cyndi. Known for his joyful and kind-hearted nature, Tommy was deeply loved by those around him. He had recently traveled to Jacksonville to visit his son, making this trip despite rarely leaving Oahu.
Tommy’s death has raised many questions and concerns. The Florida police quickly labeled his death as a suicide, but those who knew Tommy find this hard to believe. Critical items such as his phone, wallet, laptop, and keys were missing from his room when his body was discovered. This has led his friends and family to suspect foul play.
Tommy’s passing has left his mother, Cyndi, in a dire situation. She had already lost her husband six months prior and is now struggling to cope with the loss of her son. Cyndi, who is disabled and unable to work, relied on Tommy as her sole financial provider. She now faces the challenge of paying her rent and other expenses without his support.
To seek justice for Tommy and provide financial assistance to his mother, Christian Shipley has organized a GoFundMe campaign. The fundraiser aims to raise $15,000 to help cover the costs of returning Tommy’s body to Oahu, funeral arrangements, and Cyndi’s living expenses. As of now, the campaign has raised $320 from seven donations.
The community is being called upon to support this cause and help bring answers to Tommy’s family. Those who knew Tommy believe that he would have done the same for them. The fundraiser represents a plea for justice and support in a time of profound grief and uncertainty.
