Ted Porras, Beloved Educator, Father, and Friend, Passes Away on March 21, 2026, Leaving Community and Family in Mourning

Ted Porras, a dedicated social studies teacher at El Dorado High School in the Socorro Independent School District, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026.

Ted’s life was marked by devotion to family, students, and friends, earning him the admiration and love of all who knew him. Longtime friend Gustavo Rivas shared, "Ted was the little brother you wanted and the big brother you wished you had," highlighting the warmth and generosity that defined his character.

Known simply as TED, he was humble, loyal, and led by example, leaving an enduring impact on colleagues and students alike. His work alongside Mike Ramos and others fostered not only a professional bond but lifelong friendships.

In response to his sudden passing, a fundraiser was organized by Leah Carroll to assist with funeral expenses, reflecting the community’s desire to support his family during this difficult time. Many have expressed heartfelt condolences, emphasizing the profound loss felt by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Memorial service details will be announced by family members, as loved ones continue to honor Ted’s memory and celebrate the legacy of a life lived with integrity, love, and generosity.
