Dr. Muhammad Yaqub, Respected Fontana Physician, Passes Away in Car Accident at Age 66
The Fontana community is mourning the loss of Dr. Muhammad Yaqub, a compassionate and dedicated family and geriatric medicine physician, who tragically passed away on May 21, 2025, following a fatal car accident. Dr. Yaqub was 66 years old.
With a career spanning over 40 years, Dr. Yaqub devoted his life to providing exceptional medical care to his patients, most notably through his work at Foothill Family Medical Clinic in Fontana. For more than 27 years, he served the local community, becoming a trusted figure in both family and geriatric medicine. Dr. Yaqub's multilingual skills, including English, Spanish, Chinese, and Cambodian, allowed him to connect with a diverse range of patients, earning their respect and admiration.
He was a graduate of the University of the Punjab / Punjab Medical College in 1982 and specialized in preventive medicine and geriatric care. His efforts to promote early detection of chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease were recognized across the medical community.
Dr. Yaqub’s passing has deeply affected both his family and his patients. He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Aaliya Yaqub, and son, Faisal Yaqub, who were the center of his life. His colleagues and patients have expressed their sorrow, remembering him not just as a doctor, but as a friend and advocate.
Close family friend Parisa Mirza-Khan shared, "May Allah (SWT) grant him the highest rank in Jannah and give Aaliya and her family the strength to cope with this incredibly difficult time."
A memorial service will be announced shortly, and the family has asked for donations to health education or local faith-based initiatives in lieu of flowers.
Dr. Muhammad Yaqub’s legacy of compassion and care will always be remembered by the community he served so faithfully.
