Amber Gogel, Beloved Dale Resident, Tragically Dies in Head-On Collision in Spencer County, Indiana

Amber Gogel, 37, of Dale, Indiana, tragically lost her life Monday evening in a head-on collision on State Road 162, just north of State Road 62 near Saint Meinrad.

Authorities reported that Gogel’s SUV crossed the center line for reasons still under investigation, resulting in a collision with a southbound vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officials.

The crash also left the second driver, Amanda Kern, 40, with serious injuries. Kern was transported to Deaconess Memorial Medical Center and remains in stable condition.

The Spencer County Coroner’s Office has scheduled an autopsy for Gogel as part of the ongoing investigation. Indiana State Police Trooper Levi Hupp is leading the inquiry, with support from the Spencer County Sheriff’s Office, Santa Claus Police Department, and Spencer County EMS.

Community members have expressed their sorrow and condolences online. One Facebook comment read, “I’m heartbroken to hear this news. Prayers for Amber’s family and friends during this unimaginable time.” Another added, “Rest in peace, Amber. You will be deeply missed.”

Details regarding memorial services and funeral arrangements will be announced by her family in the coming days. Amber Gogel’s memory as a cherished member of her community will remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
