Tom Pender, a resident of Ireland, passed away on 30th April 2024 after a courageous battle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. At 71 years old, Tom was still working full-time and enjoying life to the fullest until his condition required hospitalization. He spent three weeks in the hospital before succumbing to the disease.
Tom’s daughter, Rachael Pender, is organizing a fundraiser in his memory to benefit The Irish Lung Fibrosis Association (ILFA). Rachael’s goal is to raise €600, and as of now, €470 has been collected from 24 donations. The fundraiser aims to support ILFA’s efforts in raising awareness and aiding those suffering from Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Despite the terminal nature of Pulmonary Fibrosis, with lung transplantation being the only cure, ongoing research seeks to discover more effective treatments. Currently, only two medications are approved for managing the condition. The ILFA plays a crucial role in raising awareness and supporting those affected by this debilitating disease.
Rachael expresses her gratitude for any contributions, noting the significant impact these donations will have on advancing the cause that meant so much to her father.
