The late Scott Kelly Jr. was from Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania. His sudden and unexpected passing has left his family and community in deep sorrow. At just 31 years old, Scott left behind his beloved wife, Kristy, and their three young children: Patrick (7), Natalie (5), and Theodore (4 months).
Scott was known for his unwavering kindness and generosity, traits that touched everyone he met. As the foundation of his family, he provided not only financial support but also an abundance of love, joy, and wisdom. His sudden absence has left a void that words cannot capture. Those who knew and loved Scott feel an immeasurable loss, but his spirit and the impact of his love will forever remain in their hearts.
In the wake of this tragedy, Kristy and the children are facing significant financial challenges. The unexpected nature of Scott’s passing has brought unforeseen expenses, including funeral costs, medical bills, and the everyday costs of raising three young children. Kristy is now confronted with the daunting task of supporting her family on her own while navigating through her immense sorrow.
Jessica Albright has organized a GoFundMe campaign titled "Honoring Scott Kelly Jr.: A Family’s Tribute" to support the family. As of today, $700 has been raised out of the $15,000 goal through eight donations. This fund will help cover funeral and memorial service expenses, assist with immediate living costs, and provide a financial cushion as Kristy adjusts to life without Scott.
Rose Galasso shared her condolences on Facebook, saying, "So sad. You never know what someone is going through. Scott was a very nice, great guy. My thoughts and prayers to wife, kids, family, and friends. So sorry Kristy Kelly Patty Kelly and Scott Kelly."
In addition to the many roles he played in the lives of his loved ones, Scott faced the challenge of mental illness with courage and resilience. His passing is a poignant reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and the need for open conversations about this often stigmatized issue. The family hopes that Scott’s story will inspire others who are struggling to seek help and remind everyone that it is okay to ask for support.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 29th, 2024, from 3-7 pm at Pavilion 5, Cedar Creek Park, 453 Evergreen Drive, Belle Vernon, PA 15012. Friends and family are invited to gather, share stories, offer support, and remember the beautiful life Scott lived.
