The late Myah "Robbie" Kellas from Pendleton, Oregon, tragically passed away recently, leaving her community in deep sorrow. Her friends and family are now facing the immense burden of arranging her funeral and purchasing a headstone, while also raising awareness about suicide prevention.
A GoFundMe campaign titled "Myah’s Love: Myah ‘Robbie’ headstone suicide prevention" was created by Nicole Kellas and Kelley Rios to support these efforts. The fundraiser, which began yesterday, has a goal of $5,000 and has already raised $180 from three donors. Sage Seaton, Katie Curtis, and an anonymous donor have contributed $60, $100, and $20, respectively.
Nicole Kellas, the organizer of the fundraiser, expressed the community’s desire to honor Myah’s memory and ensure her legacy continues to spread love, kindness, and awareness about teen suicide. "We are creating this account to raise money for the rest of Myah ‘Robbie’ Kellas’s funeral funds, including her headstone and fundraising for suicide prevention. In the future, we also hope to create a group for teen suicide awareness in our community," Nicole shared.
Kelley Rios, who co-created the fundraiser, emphasized the importance of supporting the grieving family and preventing future tragedies. "No parent should ever have to experience this loss," Kelley wrote on Facebook, urging friends and the community to contribute to the cause.
The fundraiser has already garnered attention on social media, with many expressing their willingness to help. Christine Medeiros commented, "I am interested in supporting your campaign," while Sailor X Crew wrote, "We are willing to help you out with your campaign."
The community’s collective effort reflects their determination to remember Myah and make a positive impact in her honor. The funds raised will not only cover the funeral expenses but also aid in suicide prevention initiatives, ensuring that Myah’s love and kindness continue to touch lives.
