Miraj, a 2024 graduating senior from Austin High, was a vibrant and beloved student known for her kind heart and infectious smile. She was an active member of the Classical Academy and the Black Student Alliance at Austin High, excelling in her art classes and making a positive impact in all her endeavors. Miraj had been accepted to Austin Community College and had plans to transfer to Colorado University to continue her education. She was the youngest sister of five, a loving daughter, cousin, and aunt, whose joyful spirit touched everyone she met.
Cynthia Boone, Miraj’s mother, was a 1980 alumna of Austin High. She and Miraj shared a close bond and were well-regarded in their community.
The family, led by Monique Boone, has organized a fundraiser titled "Honoring Miraj: A Beacon of Joy" with the goal of raising $25,000 for their memorial. So far, they have collected $5,120. Monique Boone expressed the importance of every contribution, no matter how small, to help them reach their goal and honor the memory of Miraj and Cynthia.
