The late Kristi Weichinger was from Arroyo Grande. Her sudden and unexpected death has left her family and community in deep mourning. Kristi leaves behind her two children, Sofia, 14, and Zachary, 17. In an effort to provide Sofia and Zachary with some peace and closure, the family is hoping to organize a small private memorial to honor Kristi.
Leticia Weichinger, Kristi’s sister-in-law, is organizing a fundraiser to help cover the costs of the memorial. Despite the family pooling together their resources, they still find themselves short of the necessary funds. Leticia has set up a GoFundMe campaign with a goal of $3,500. As of now, the campaign has raised $250 from three donations.
Maria Lopez, one of the donors, contributed $100 and wrote, "Kristi was a wonderful person, and I hope this helps her kids find some peace." Katie Hoffman donated $125, stating, "My heart goes out to Sofia and Zachary during this difficult time." Melissa Morgan added $25, commenting, "Every little bit helps. Kristi will be missed by many."
The community’s support reflects the impact Kristi had on those around her and the collective effort to ensure her children can say a proper goodbye. Leticia’s heartfelt plea for help underscores the importance of coming together during times of grief to provide solace and support to those left behind.
