The late Jordan Drake, a junior at Indian River High School, tragically passed away on May 19, 2024. Jordan’s infectious spirit and unwavering kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. His unexpected death has been a devastating loss to the community, particularly his school, which is now striving to honor his legacy.
A fundraiser has been initiated by an Indian River student, with the support of Matt Koerick, to commemorate Jordan’s impact through a plaque. The goal is to raise $1,500, and so far, $110 has been collected from six donations. Zoe Shinnick, Daniel Freeman, Shane Motes, an anonymous donor, and Matthew Koerick have all contributed to this cause.
Jordan was known for his genuine compassion and positivity, both on and off the field. His ability to forge deep, meaningful connections made everyone feel like part of his family. The plaque will serve as a tribute to his remarkable legacy, ensuring that future generations are inspired by his kindness and spirit.
Issie Warrick expressed her thoughts on Facebook, saying, "In honor of Jordan Drake," with a link to the fundraiser. The community is coming together to celebrate Jordan’s life and the joy he spread, even in the face of such a profound loss.
