The late Gregory Hughes Taylor was from Franklin, Tennessee. It is with heavy hearts that we share the devastating news of the loss of our beloved friend, Gregory H. Taylor, who passed away at the age of 53. Greg touched many lives in various ways, including his performances as Luther Billis in the high school play "South Pacific," his love for playing the saxophone in the band, his participation on the debate team, and as an HHS chamber singer. He made lasting friendships at Penn State and the University of Missouri, where he earned his degree in Computer Science.
Many knew Greg as a family friend, a co-worker, or through cherished vacations at the Muskoka Club or summer camp in Minnesota. Regardless of how you knew Greg, you knew him as a compassionate and caring person who deeply valued his relationships.
To honor Greg’s memory and support his only child, Megan Elizabeth Hughes Taylor, we have established the Megan Taylor Scholarship Fund. Megan, the pride and joy of her father, will graduate as a salutatorian from Franklin High School on May 23rd, 2024. This fall, she will begin her higher education at Florida State University, majoring in behavioral neuroscience on a premed track, with the ultimate goal of becoming a trauma surgeon.
Long-time friends of Greg have set up this fund to support Megan’s college and future. As of now, $1,000 has been raised out of the $40,000 goal, with donations from anonymous and Karen Johnston contributing $500 each. The support from this fund will help Megan navigate her college years and beyond, covering tuition, books, and other essential living expenses, enabling her to achieve her aspirations and honor her father’s legacy.
Our hearts go out to Greg’s family and friends during this exceptionally difficult time. Greg’s memory will continue to live on through all who knew and loved him, and through Megan’s bright future. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
