The late Devon Leigh, from England, passed away on June 4, 2024, after a courageous battle with leukaemia. Diagnosed in February 2022, Devon endured numerous treatments and extended hospital stays, losing precious time with her family. Since September 2023, she had been in the hospital continuously until her death.
Her best friends, Kirsty Chambers and Heather Barnett, have stepped forward to support Devon’s family during this heartbreaking time. They have launched a fundraising page to help alleviate the financial burdens associated with the funeral and future expenses for Devon’s two young daughters.
Kirsty Chambers shared on Facebook, "Myself and Heather have spoken with the family about supporting them through this very difficult and heartbreaking time so we have launched a page to help support the family and ease their financial worries. Please give the page a read, share it with everyone, and support in any way you can for our Angel."
The GoFundMe campaign, "In Memory of our Beautiful Devon Leigh," has so far raised £415 of its £1,000 target, with 15 donations. Donations have come from various contributors, including a significant £100 from Clair Diggle and smaller amounts from anonymous donors.
Gary Chambers commented, "Kirsty, I would like to donate 5 pounds but will not donate 16 percent 80 pence to GoFundMe. I would much rather give 6 pounds to the cause. Tell me the best method to get this to you. Text me if you wish." Kirsty responded, explaining how to ensure the full amount goes to the cause, highlighting the community’s willingness to support Devon’s family.
Kerry Frith also expressed her support, "Donated hun, wish I could give more but have a lot of outgoings this month."
The fundraiser aims not only to cover the funeral costs but also to support Devon’s daughters, ensuring they have what they need moving forward. Kirsty and Heather emphasized, "Devon deserves the best, and if possible, we would like to take away some of the worry for the family and help raise as much as we possibly can."
As the community comes together, their collective effort aims to honor Devon’s memory and provide for her family in their time of need.
