The late Chanler Zwanzig was from Shepherdsville, Kentucky. His unexpected passing has left the community and his family devastated. Chanler’s older cousin, Haley Richard, has organized a fundraiser to help cover funeral expenses and support the family during this difficult time.
"Hi, I am Chanler Zwanzig’s older cousin. I am starting this to help my little cousin’s family with any funeral expenses that they need," Haley wrote on the GoFundMe page. She described Chanler as a "total goofball" who was always cracking jokes, making his loss even more heartbreaking for those who knew him. The fundraiser, created yesterday, has raised $545 of its $10,000 goal with 17 donations so far.
Miranda Lynn Marksbury, a close family friend, expressed her sorrow on Facebook, stating, "This totally breaks my heart… He was a bonus son and he practically lived with us wherever we moved to he was always there… I know my boys are devastated over this… Please pray for all us and his family." She shared details about the funeral service, scheduled for Wednesday from 2-6 PM at Hardy-Close Funeral Home in Shepherdsville.
Other community members also shared their grief online. Candis Nicole Barley simply asked for prayers, while Issac McGuire wrote, "Rip fly high." Savannah Zazzetti reflected on the frequency of young deaths, saying, "Shit don’t seem real. A lot of people are dying young and I be knowing every single one of them." Jayden Davidson responded with, "LONGLIVE Chanler … LONGLIVEJAY."
The community’s outpouring of support is evident, but there is still a long way to go to meet the fundraising goal. The collective effort to support Chanler’s family highlights the importance of coming together during times of profound loss.
