The late Calvin Bradshaw from Fermanagh lost his battle against lymphoma on March 6, 2024. Diagnosed in May 2023, Calvin fought courageously through multiple hospital stays and a trip to London for stem cell therapy. Throughout his journey, Calvin remained positive and was thankful for the support of his family.
In memory of Calvin, who would have turned 20 on June 9, 2024, family and friends will walk the stairway to heaven in Fermanagh. Funds raised from this event will be split between Amy’s House and the Foyle Hospice, both of which played significant roles in Calvin’s care and support for his family.
Sonia McKinney, who is organizing the fundraiser, expressed gratitude for the support provided by these organizations. Amy’s House offers accommodation to families of cancer patients, allowing them to stay close to the hospital. The Bradshaw family benefited greatly from this service. The Foyle Hospice provided Calvin with palliative care, enabling him to stay at home with his family during his final weeks, fulfilling his wish to be surrounded by loved ones.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for this fundraiser, aiming to reach a £3,000 target. As of now, £805 has been raised through 21 donations. Notable donations include £50 from Bernie McCauley, who made both the recent and top donations, and Sonia McKinney, who made the first donation.
Sonia McKinney shared on Facebook, "On 09th June family and friends of Calvin Bradshaw will walk the stairway to heaven in Fermanagh in memory of our wee man on what would have been his 20th birthday. All funds raised will be split between Amy’s House and the Foyle Hospice as a thank you for all the support they provided both to Calvin and his family throughout his cancer journey."
The community’s support and the ongoing fundraiser highlight the collective effort to honor Calvin’s memory and give back to the organizations that supported him and his family during a challenging time.
