The late Brian Meeks was from Crestview, Florida. On June 15, Brian passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a wife, Colleen, and three children. The news has devastated his family and the community.
Heather Green, Brian’s sister, expressed her grief on Facebook, writing, "For just a moment in time today, the entire world stopped. Time itself stopped for what seemed forever but was probably only a minute or so. I knew whatever was about to be said was about to be shattering news, but I had no idea what it could be. Never in a million years did I think it would be the terrible sudden loss of my big brother."
Brian had recently married Colleen, the love of his life, less than a year ago. The sudden loss has left the family struggling emotionally and financially. To support them, Jessica Dean organized a GoFundMe campaign, "Help Ease the Burden for Brian’s Family," with a goal of $5,000. So far, $2,190 has been raised through 16 donations.
Jessica Dean, the fundraiser’s organizer, shared, "Brian touched so many people’s lives and whoever came across him knew how amazing his heart truly was. I would like to help raise money for Colleen and the kids so she won’t have to worry about anything, whether it’s funeral costs, food for the house, or bills while she takes some time off."
Friends and colleagues also shared their condolences on Facebook. Roger Jacobs, who worked with Brian, said, "Brian worked for me as one of my Sergeants at Third Army in South Carolina. He was a good soldier and a good man." Others like Brandy Polizzi, Lureana Sandlin, and Lauren Luskus extended their heartfelt sympathies, highlighting the profound impact Brian had on those around him.
The community’s response underscores the collective grief and support for the Meeks family. As they navigate this challenging time, the outpouring of love and assistance continues to be a source of strength for Colleen and their children.
