The late Jacqueline "Jackie" Hernandez, a vibrant 16-year-old from Bridgeport, tragically passed away in a car accident on June 16th, 2024. Jackie was known for her lively spirit and aspirations to join the Air Force after high school. She was set to be a junior in the upcoming school year.
Jackie’s untimely death has left her family and the community in deep sorrow. Her mother, Graciela L. Estrada, works for the Paradise District and has two other children attending school in the PISD. In the midst of their grief, the family is seeking donations to cover funeral expenses.
Brenda Luevano Handley set up a GoFundMe campaign to assist with these costs. As of now, $300 has been raised out of the $10,000 goal. Brenda also mentioned an alternative way to donate through a Benefit Account at The Community Bank in Bridgeport, ensuring all contributions go directly to the family.
Many community members have expressed their condolences and support on social media. Melanie Gayan Tittor, who taught Jackie in multiple grades, shared her sorrow, "I am so sad for this family… Her Mother and Grandmother are precious people. Prayers for all of them and ALL who loved this child."
The tragic loss of Jackie has deeply affected the community of Paradise. Kris Clement Tamplen commented, "Prayers also for the community of Paradise as they suffer another terrible loss."
