The late Ben Robert Whiteman was a beloved 22-year-old from the Lake District who tragically took his own life on 3rd June 2024. Ben’s sudden passing has left a profound void in the lives of his loved ones. His girlfriend, Beth Moir, is currently raising funds for the If U Care Share Foundation in his memory.
Beth shared her heartfelt message on Facebook, stating, "Ben was a wonderful person who brought joy and love into the lives of everyone he met. He struggled silently with his mental health, and his sudden loss has left a void in our lives that can never be filled." She is organizing a fundraiser with a goal of £2,000 to support the foundation, which is dedicated to the prevention, intervention, and support of those bereaved by suicide.
In memory of Ben, Beth, along with 25 friends, will be walking up Cat Bells, a fell in the Lake District, on Saturday, 15th June. This walk holds special significance as Ben and Beth climbed Cat Bells together in April. Beth expressed the importance of this walk and the fundraiser, saying, "Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Your support means the world to me and everyone who knew and loved Ben. Please consider donating to our cause, no matter how big or small, and sharing our campaign. Together, we can make a difference and honor Ben’s memory."
The If U Care Share Foundation provides crucial training and workshops centered around mental health and suicide prevention, supporting people in their time of need. The community’s support for this cause reflects the deep impact Ben had on those around him and the collective effort to remember him by aiding others.
To support Beth’s fundraiser and honor Ben’s memory, donations can be made through the GoFundMe campaign titled "Cat Bells in Memory of Ben Robert Whiteman."
Beth’s Facebook post and the fundraiser underscore the importance of community support and the need for greater awareness and resources for mental health and suicide prevention.
