The late Kate Palisi, a beloved member of the Menai community, passed away suddenly on June 9, 2024. She was a dedicated mother to four children: Maddie (15), Ruby (13), Amber (7), and Isaac (6). Kate was deeply involved in her community, coaching and managing teams at the Barden Ridgebacks Netball Club and supporting her children’s various activities, including netball, dancing, physie, and soccer. She was also an avid supporter of the Cronulla Sharks.
Kate’s passing has left a significant void in the lives of her family and the local community. The Barden Ridgebacks Netball Club expressed their sorrow, noting Kate’s contributions as a coach and manager. "During this difficult time, our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Kate’s family and friends. Rest in peace, Kate. You will be greatly missed," the club shared.
To support Kate’s husband Nick and their children during this challenging time, Rachael Wakefield has organized a GoFundMe campaign with a goal of raising $50,000 AUD. The funds will help cover the cost of Kate’s funeral and allow Nick to spend time with his young family without financial stress. "We want to give Kate the send off she deserves to honour her memory and say our last goodbyes," the fundraiser description states.
The community has rallied around the Palisi family, offering condolences and support. Comments on Facebook from friends and community members reflect the widespread grief and sympathy:
