The late Asiyra Saige from Walterboro was tragically taken from this world on Saturday, May 18th. Her unexpected and senseless death has left her family and the community in profound grief. Asiyra, a vibrant and joyful two-year-old, was known for her contagious, squinty smile and fun-loving personality, which could lift anyone’s spirits.
Her mother, Kaylee Pak, and father, Mason Cole, are enduring the unimaginable pain of losing their precious daughter. This loss is compounded by the simultaneous passing of Asiyra’s grandmother, Alisha Gardner, in the same tragic incident. The family now faces not only emotional but also financial hardships as they navigate through this devastating time.
Kaitlyn Hoffman, a family friend, organized a GoFundMe campaign to help alleviate some of the financial burdens faced by Kaylee, a single mother. The fundraiser, titled "In Loving Memory of Asiyra Saige," has a goal of $20,000 to cover funeral expenses and other costs that arise during this period. As of today, $2,015 has been raised from 21 donations, with contributions ranging from $25 to $500.
In her heartfelt plea, Kaitlyn Hoffman shared, "Asiyra was taken from our world too soon. She was such a fun-loving, sweet, and beautiful baby girl, who was loved by so many. The unexpected death of a child is something no parent should ever have to face, nor could ever be prepared for. If you are unable to donate, please help by sharing this link and keeping Kaylee, Mason, and their families in your thoughts and prayers."
The community has shown remarkable support, with friends and strangers alike coming together to offer comfort, love, and financial assistance. Top donations include $500 from Brittni Smoak and $100 from Lucia Renck, highlighting the collective effort to support the grieving family.
As the fundraiser continues, the organizers and the family hope to reach their goal, allowing Kaylee to focus on mourning her beloved daughter without the added stress of financial strain. This tragic event underscores the fragility of life and the importance of community solidarity in times of profound loss.
