Antonio "Tony" Vicada, aged 62, tragically passed away on May 16th due to a severe motorcycle accident in Tagum City, Philippines. He was on his way back from the market when the accident occurred. Tony is survived by his wife, daughters, son, and two granddaughters. The unexpected loss of Tony, the family’s sole breadwinner, has left his family in a dire financial situation.
Julius Stenglein, Tony’s son, has initiated a fundraiser to cover the funeral expenses and support the family during this difficult time. In the Philippines, a 9-day funeral is a tradition that involves significant costs, including the facility rent, coffin, burial, and flowers. Julius and his family are doing their best to contribute, but the financial burden is overwhelming.
Julius shared his grief on Facebook, stating, "It is with heavy heavy hearts we lay my dad (Antonio ‘Tony’ Vicada) to rest. The family was not financially prepared for this and we are raising money to help my family afford the service he deserves." He also highlighted the urgent need for funds to cover daily expenses and debts, as the family navigates life without their main provider.
The community has started to rally around the family. So far, $68 has been raised out of the $6,000 goal through five donations. Contributors include Vinod Chatlani, Mary Paulino, Freddie Lambright III, and two anonymous donors. Each contribution, no matter the amount, helps alleviate some of the financial strain.
Friends and acquaintances have expressed their condolences and support. Jo Jo, a friend, commented, "My condolence kapatid so sorry for your loss," reflecting the shared sorrow and solidarity in this time of need.
This fundraiser, organized by Julius, also known as Kiki Galore, emphasizes the collective effort to support a grieving family. Every donation is a step towards giving Tony the respectful farewell he deserves and ensuring his family’s well-being in his absence.
