The late Abdul-Saleem "Lil Ab" Patilla, only 14 years old, tragically passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, in Trenton, New Jersey. This young man was full of life, known for his creativity and intelligence, capable of drawing anything, and always ready to dance and sing. He was set to begin his role as a volunteer counselor for the TUFF Summer Camp on July 1st before his life was abruptly taken by a gunshot wound.
The Trenton United Family Foundation is spearheading a fundraiser to support Abdul-Saleem’s family during this profoundly difficult time. They aim to raise $15,000 to help cover funeral expenses and other costs the family may incur. The foundation emphasizes the importance of community support, urging those who knew and loved Abdul-Saleem, as well as others moved by his story, to contribute.
"Please support this GoFundMe for the tragic loss of this young man, Abdul-Saleem ‘Lil Ab’ Patilla, who was only 14 years of age," the foundation posted on Facebook. "His family is going through enough, so we are helping by asking everyone for your help. Please give what you can in this time of need."
Donations can be made via GoFundMe, as well as through CashApp ($TUFF2017), Venmo (@TUFF2017), and Zelle ((609)516-8590). All proceeds will go directly to the Patilla family.
In their heartfelt message, the foundation shared, "We mourn the loss of this young man, especially because of his vibrant spirit he brought to everyone he came in contact with. You will be forever missed by your loved ones. We are sending our condolences, hugs, hearts, comfort, prayers, and anything else the family needs. Especially to the father and mother who lost their child. He can’t be replaced. Difficult time for everyone, and we know we have to be there for his family. Please pray for Abdul’s family while they go through this most difficult time. Please help and share if you can."
Abdul-Saleem Patilla will always be remembered, "Forever in our hearts."
