Karen Francisco, 58, lost life following a devastating house fire that broke out on April 24, 2026, in Bastrop, Louisiana.

Emergency crews responded to the residence in the 4300 block of Maplewood Drive around 3:00 p.m., where flames had already overtaken much of the home.

Firefighters entered the structure and located Karen Francisco inside, bringing them out in a rapid rescue effort as the blaze continued to spread.

Responders provided immediate medical attention at the scene, but despite their efforts, Karen Francisco was pronounced deceased shortly after.

Officials confirmed that two other individuals inside the home managed to escape safely without injuries, aided by functioning smoke alarms.

Investigators believe the fire may have started in a bedroom, though the exact cause remains under review.
