Aiken County Community Mourns Axel K. Ulteig, 15, After UTV And Sedan Collision On May 23, 2026
Axel K. Ulteig, a 15-year-old from Aiken, South Carolina, died on Saturday evening, May 23, 2026, after a UTV and sedan collision in Aiken County.
The incident happened at about 5:40 p.m. at South Hankinson Street and Atomic Road.
State officials said Axel rode as a passenger in a 2026 Polaris side-by-side UTV traveling east on South Hankinson Street when it collided with a southbound 2020 Nissan Sentra.
The Aiken County Coroner’s Office confirmed Axel died at the scene, and emergency crews responded soon after the report.
Two other people in the UTV received hospital care, while officials said the Nissan Sentra driver reported no harm.
Authorities continue to review vehicle movement, speed, and safety restraint use at the intersection.
