The late Zachary Boetcher, a beloved husband, father, brother, and son from Nashville, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on June 17, 2024, at the age of 33. His sudden death has left his family and community in profound grief, as they struggle to cope with this tragic loss and make funeral arrangements without the support of life insurance.
Zachary’s mother, Valarie Anne, shared the devastating news on Facebook, expressing her heartbreak and disbelief. "My precious son Zach T Boetcher transitioned to heaven today. We are completely devastated and really need the support of our family and friends," she wrote. Zachary was known for his selflessness, even in death, as he chose to be an organ donor, potentially saving up to nine lives.
The family is currently raising funds to cover the costs of Zachary’s funeral and memorial service. Valarie mentioned their efforts in her post: "He was only 33 years old and died today at 3:33 pm. Please pray for us as we have no idea how to live without him. I wouldn’t wish this pain on anyone. We are trying to make funeral arrangements now and if anyone can help support us during this time, we would really appreciate it." A GoFundMe campaign has been organized by Liz Smith on behalf of Valarie to help with the expenses.
The community has rallied around the Boetcher family, offering prayers, condolences, and donations. Valarie expressed her gratitude: "I am so appreciative of every message, prayer, love, and support. My oldest son Zach T Boetcher was so loved, special and was truly my biggest supporter. I am lost. I just wanted to thank you all. Big thank you."
Friends and family have also shared their condolences on Facebook:
- Tamara Williams wrote, "Omg Valerie I am so sorry and lost for words. I am definitely lifting you all in prayer during this time."
- Susan Bell expressed, "I’m so sorry for your loss Valerie. Continuing prayers for you and your family."
- Gretchen Bright Cantrell commented, "I don’t have the words to express how sorry I am. I cannot begin to imagine what you are going through. Sending prayers for peace to you and your family."
Despite the individual pain, this collective effort highlights the necessity for community support during such crises. The fundraiser not only aims to meet the financial needs of Zachary’s funeral but also underscores the challenges families face in the absence of life insurance and the profound impact of communal solidarity in times of loss.

I loved Mr. Boetcher and when I told him I wanted to be an MLB player he said, “Go follow your dreams man. When people try to take it from you snatch it back, and you work and work and work and work until that goal is reached. You got to be ready for the ups and the downs, the lefts and the rights. Work more hard than anyone has ever before, and you’ll make it.” When he said that to me, he filled me up with joy and he put joy in everyone and everywhere he met or he went.
