Wanda Finch, a beloved resident of Hesperia, California, is nearing the end of her life. Her daughter, Pamela Slocum, has organized a fundraiser to honor her mother’s legacy and to support her final journey. Wanda, who has been battling dementia, was placed on end-of-life treatment on Wednesday and is expected to pass away soon.
Last year in June, Wanda’s son was tragically murdered, and just ten days later, her husband of 63 years suffered a massive heart attack and passed away. Both were buried on July 20th. The compounded grief and her declining health have placed an immense strain on Wanda and her family.
Pamela has described her mother as a dedicated Christian woman who never wavered in her faith. Wanda was known for her unwavering smile and her dedication to the church, where she worked as a Sunday school teacher. She made it a point to call each child every Sunday to thank them for attending church or to let them know they were missed. Wanda raised many children throughout her life, including four in her 60s and 70s, and she is remembered as the sweetest person by those who knew her.
The fundraiser aims to raise $10,000 to cover the costs of Wanda’s funeral. So far, $200 has been raised through two donations, each contributing $100. Pamela expresses deep gratitude for any support received, emphasizing that her mother deserves a proper burial.
The community is called upon to rally around this cause and provide the necessary support to honor Wanda Finch, a woman who has given so much to others throughout her 91 years.
