The late Vanessa Keyes was from Chicopee. The community and her family are deeply saddened by her passing and are coming together to honor her memory and support her children. Vanessa’s sister-in-law, Cassie Gendron, is organizing a fundraiser to help celebrate Vanessa’s life and provide for her children.
Vanessa passed away after battling multiple sclerosis (MS) and depression. Jacob Jones, a close friend, shared his sorrow on Facebook: "R.I.P to one of my best friends from my days at FL Roberts. My sensai Vanessa Keyes. From my understanding…she lost her battle with MS…and depression… My heart is broken knowing you are now gone. Thank you for teaching me everything you knew and putting up with me, and for all the awesome times we had! And especially thank you that every time I saw you I got a big warm hug from you! I’ll miss those the most. R.I.P Sensai."
The fundraiser, organized by Cassie Gendron, aims to raise $6,000, with $1,000 already raised from 17 donations. "Vanessa was loved by all and was a mother, aunt, sister, partner, and friend. She is loved by her family and friends, and though she was tired, would not hesitate to help when anyone reached out. She was a light to many in their darkest days," Cassie wrote on the fundraising page.
Joshua Gendron, another friend, expressed his grief, saying, "She was such a bright light in such a dark world. She led me from the darkness. Thank you, Jacob. And thank you, everyone, for showing how much she was loved."
Vanessa leaves behind three children, one stepchild, and her partner. The community is rallying to support her family during this difficult time, demonstrating the impact Vanessa had on those around her. The fundraiser will help cover the costs of her memorial, with any remaining funds going to her children.
