The late Trey Zanders, also known as “JJ,” was from Cincinnati, Ohio. His passing has left his family and community in mourning, struggling to prepare for his burial. Trey’s father, John Zanders, works at the same place as Chelsea Benson, who has expressed deep sorrow for the loss of Trey and her desire to support John during this difficult time.
A GoFundMe campaign, organized by Toniesha Watkins, has been set up to help cover the costs of Trey’s funeral. The campaign, titled "Support Needed for Trey Zanders’ Farewell," aims to raise $4,000 by Friday, June 21, 2024. So far, $3,300 has been raised from 22 donations, with Mark Walker making the top donation of $1,500 and Tabitha Marie Haggard contributing the most recent donation of $25.
Chelsea Benson shared her grief on Facebook, saying, “Hey Facebook Family, the dreaded moment has come again, I have lost another one of my staff members. Even $5 bucks would help this family, his dad works for us too and I adore dad and his son. I feel the need to help this wonderful dad, love you big John Zanders, I am so so sorry for the loss… Praying hard for you sir. Thank you everyone.”
Another community member, Laura Lanier Salome, also expressed her sorrow, commenting, “Such a sweet kid! My heart was hurt when I heard this news. Prayers to John and family.”
The community’s response has been overwhelmingly supportive, with numerous donations and heartfelt messages pouring in. Chelsea Benson highlighted the generosity of anonymous donors and thanked them, saying, “So many anonymous donors and if it were any of my people, please know I appreciate youuuuu!!!!!!”
Doug Kennedy, another donor, joined the list of supporters, expressing his condolences by saying, “Sorry for the loss of this man.”
The outpouring of support reflects the close-knit nature of the community and the high regard in which Trey and his family are held. The fundraising campaign underscores the collective effort to honor Trey’s memory and support his family in their time of need.
