Tess Waldmann, from Chicago, is currently facing an incredibly difficult time. According to a recent update shared by her brother, Matt Waldmann, Tess is suffering from multiple organ failure. On Sunday morning, her medical team advised that the best course of action is now end-of-life care, as they believe further chemotherapy would not be beneficial and might even reduce her remaining time with her loved ones.
Tess was initially rushed to the emergency room in February due to breathing trouble. What was first thought to be pneumonia was later diagnosed as Stage 4 cancer, which had spread to her lungs, spleen, right bicep, and pelvic bone. Despite several rounds of chemotherapy, her condition has deteriorated, and her doctors have given her only days to a week to live.
In light of this heartbreaking news, Matt Waldmann has started a GoFundMe campaign to raise $30,000. The funds are intended to cover Tess’s funeral expenses and to create a trust for her three young children: Koa, aged 4; Akela, aged 3; and Aubrey, who is just 22 months old.
The community has shown an outpouring of support and sympathy. Matt Waldmann expressed his gratitude on Facebook, saying, "I appreciate all the love and support my family has received up to this point. Please share this on your page and stories if you can. Any help is appreciated."
Comments from friends and family reflect the profound sadness felt by all who knew Tess. Jelissa Moore wrote, "Aw man, sorry to hear this," while Pamela Young Brooks shared, "My heart breaks for all of you. Much love to all of your family, especially sweet Tessie." Haris Habibovic and Imani Becki Brown also offered their condolences, with Imani adding that she would make a donation to the fundraiser.
The GoFundMe page highlights the urgency of the situation and the family’s need for financial support during this difficult time. As Matt Waldmann stated, "We love her so much and we need help to cover burial expenses and also would love something to put into a trust or college fund for her kids."
This tragic situation has brought the community together in support of Tess and her family, demonstrating the power of collective empathy and the importance of helping one another in times of need.
