The late Teng Cha, from Sacramento, California, passed away suddenly on May 22nd, 2024. His unexpected death at the age of 45 has left a profound impact on his family and community. Teng was a man of few words but was known for his hardworking, creative, and family-oriented nature. He is survived by his wife and nine children (five girls and four boys), who are all still young and unmarried.
Cindy Cha, one of Teng’s daughters, has been deeply affected by the loss of her father. She expressed her grief in a heartfelt Facebook post: "Today marks one week of folding boats every day for you ever since you passed, Dad. You left us all so sudden, we all didn’t even get the chance to tell you one last time that we love you. I am still in disbelief that you are no longer with us. Every day I have been coming to the house, I see all your cars but not you, and it breaks me down all over again. It breaks me even more not seeing the garage door open as usual with you there fixing your cars and I get to say ‘Hi Dad!’ when I come by. You just don’t know how much we miss you and love you! I really hope you are now in a better place and doing better than before. We love you so dearly, Dad!"
In the wake of Teng’s passing, Cindy Cha has organized a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the memorial expenses. The campaign has set a goal of $5,000, and as of now, it has raised $200 from three donations. Cindy’s appeal on the GoFundMe page reads: "Dear Friends and Family, With heavy hearts, we come together to honor the memory of our loving father, Teng Cha. We lost our beloved father due to a tragic sudden death. Anyone who knew our father, knew him as a man of few words, hardworking, creative, and family-oriented. He believed in being a kind person and helping others, especially in times of need as the smallest gesture of kindness can mean the world to someone else. He also valued the importance of family in such an inspiring way, he unknowingly instilled these values upon those he loved and are around him. Our father passed away at the age of 45 years old, leaving behind his wife and 9 children (5 girls and 4 boys) who are all still very young and neither married."
The community has shown an outpouring of support for Cindy and her family. Messages of condolence and support have flooded in on social media. Lisa Saelee wrote, "Sending hugs. My sincere condolences." LH Fam expressed, "My deepest condolences to your family’s loss! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family." Xiong Youa added, "I’m so sorry for your loss."
Cindy’s friends and extended family have also shared their condolences. Kao X. Xiong posted, "I’m so sorry for your loss Cindy! Sending you many hugs!" and Nancy Pants said, "Our heart breaks for you and your family. Keeping you in my thoughts and sending you all the love."
Despite the overwhelming grief, the Cha family remains resilient. As they navigate this difficult time, they continue to remember Teng’s legacy and the values he instilled in them. The community’s support through the GoFundMe campaign and heartfelt messages offers a glimmer of hope and comfort during their time of sorrow.
