The late Televise "Skivie" Sa’u, better known as Unko Skivie, was from Paia, Hawaii. His passing has left a profound impact on his family and community, who are now working hard to give him a proper farewell. Born on May 4, 1970, Skivie embraced eternity on April 18, 2024. Known for his calm demeanor and generous heart, he was a beloved figure who touched many lives.
Skivie leaves behind his beloved wife, Christine Sa’u, and their six children: Alden Makana Sa’u, Shereen Malia Sa’u, Kori-Lin (Alex) Dremlyuga, Vika Kylor Sa’u, Omaha Televise Sa’u, and Precious Toefiliga Sa’u. He also leaves three grandchildren, Caleb, Djournie, Vladimir, and a grandson on the way. Skivie’s infectious laughter and ability to make others smile were among his most cherished traits. He treated everyone like family, making him a respected and loved individual in the community.
Christine Sa’u has organized a GoFundMe campaign titled "For the love of Skivie Memorial Fund" to raise $2,500 for Skivie’s funeral and burial expenses. So far, only $20 has been raised from a single donation. The goal is to ensure Skivie receives a respectable service and burial. Christine’s heartfelt plea emphasizes the cultural importance of a proper burial and her desire to honor Skivie in a way that reflects his life and spirit.
The memorial service for Skivie will be held on June 28, 2024, at Norman’s Mortuary from 8:00 am to 11:45 am, followed by a burial at Valley Isle Memorial Park in Haiku at 12:30 pm. A celebration of his life will continue at Cove Park in Kihei at 4:00 pm. This event will allow loved ones to console each other and share memories of Skivie, celebrating his joyful and loving life.
Christine’s message on the GoFundMe page highlights Skivie’s legacy of love, kindness, and generosity. His life lessons and humorous sayings, like "No Squirreliez," continue to inspire those who knew him. The Sa’u family hopes that the community will come together to help them reach their fundraising goal and give Skivie the respectful farewell he deserves.
