The late Steven Desira, who tragically passed away on May 21, 2024, after an 18-month battle with bowel cancer, was deeply loved by everyone who knew him. His passing has left a significant void in the hearts of his family and friends. Steven was a true warrior, documenting his journey to raise awareness about regular health check-ups and support others facing similar battles.
In memory of Steven, a fundraiser has been organized by Bianca Gomez to fulfil one of his final wishes: to provide much-needed support to cancer patients in Paraguay. The fundraiser aims to raise £1,000, with £250 already raised from 10 donations. Notable contributions include £50 from Bianca Gomez Barrios and £20 from Emily McMahon.
Bianca Gomez shared on Facebook, “By donating, you are helping to fulfil one of Steven’s final wishes to provide much-needed support to cancer patients facing a similar experience to him in Paraguay.”
The funds raised will support two vital institutions in Paraguay: Hospital General Pediátrico "Niños de Acosta Ñu," specializing in treatment for children battling cancer, and Instituto Nacional Del Cancer (INCAN), which provides life-saving treatments and support for cancer patients.
Charles L. Thompson and Bianca Gomez Barrios have also expressed their support and urged others to donate in memory of Steven. Bianca’s heartfelt plea, "FCUK U CANCER," reflects the anger and frustration many feel towards this devastating disease.
Steven’s family, including Lily and Freddie Desira, have expressed their gratitude for the support, emphasizing how every donation, no matter the size, will make a significant difference. They believe this effort will honor Steven’s legacy and continue his mission to support cancer patients.
Steven’s story and the ongoing fundraiser highlight the importance of community support in times of grief and the enduring impact of a compassionate and determined individual.
