The late Stefani Roberts was a beloved preschool teacher from Columbus. Her sudden passing has left her family and community in shock and grief. Stefani tragically died on May 25th, 2024, due to complications from leukemia and an emergency C-section. This heartbreaking event unfolded just after she was diagnosed with leukemia and gave birth prematurely to her daughter, Magnolia, at 25 weeks.
Her cousin, Michelle Dorsch Smith, shared the devastating news on Facebook, saying, "Hi Facebook fam! I know it’s been a while, but I could really use your love and prayers. Tragically, we lost my beautiful cousin Stefani Roberts – immediately after a leukemia diagnosis and emergency c-section at 25 weeks. While we’re devastated by our loss, we’re celebrating that her miracle, baby Magnolia, is fighting hard to stay here with us! Her husband Cortland and our families would very much appreciate your support! Please donate if you can, share this post, or say a little prayer. Thank you!"
Stefani’s husband, Courtland, now faces the immense challenge of caring for their newborn daughter, who is in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Baby Magnolia is currently receiving critical care due to her premature birth, adding to the family’s emotional and financial burdens.
To support Stefani’s family during this incredibly difficult time, a fundraiser has been organized by Ruth Arbaugh. As of now, the campaign has raised $3,250 out of its $10,000 goal, with contributions from generous donors like Chris Linderwell, Sarah Martahus, Irina Owens, Michael Martahus, and Vincent Staschiak.
The funds raised will be used to cover funeral expenses, medical costs for Magnolia’s NICU care, and living expenses to help Courtland during this period of profound loss. The family’s need for support is urgent and heartfelt, as they navigate the dual challenges of mourning Stefani and ensuring Magnolia’s survival.
"We are deeply grateful for any assistance you can provide. Your generosity and kindness will never be forgotten during this time of profound loss and need," wrote Ruth Arbaugh on the GoFundMe page.
The community is rallying around Stefani’s family, demonstrating the power of collective support in times of tragedy.
