The late Skyler Bair was from Brighton, Missouri. The community and his family are grappling with the loss and trying to honor his legacy. Skyler passed away in his sleep on June 26, 2024, at the age of 29, due to ongoing health conditions. Shelby Place, his sister, is organizing a fundraiser to cover the costs associated with his memorial and celebration of life.
Shelby Place started a GoFundMe campaign titled "Help Honor Skyler Bair’s Legacy" with a goal of $6,000. She described Skyler as someone full of laughter and jokes, capable of lighting up any room. Skyler was known for his generosity, always willing to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. His passing has left a significant void in the hearts of many.
The fundraiser aims to cover the costs for the celebration of life, scheduled for the first or second weekend of October, giving family and friends time to make arrangements and gather funds for food, flowers, and other necessities. Shelby has requested that people keep the family in their prayers during this difficult time.
On Facebook, friends and acquaintances have shared their condolences and memories of Skyler. Kelsey Chase reminisced about their friendship, despite a rocky start in high school. "Bro, this one’s hard. I’ve known u since freshman year. Truthfully, I hated you at first. My very first day at Hollister, you tripped me in geography in front of everyone. I was humiliated and so freaking mad at you but we became homies. I was always the girl that hung out with you and the guys. I dropped out of school and we drifted apart. Life got us but we still hit each other up and hung out over the years. Hearing that you’re gone breaks my heart. You will be missed Skyler Bair! R.I.P."
Brandy Lynn shared her experience working with Skyler at Country Mart, describing him as a sweet kid whose smile could brighten anyone’s day. "He really was. His smile and personality were contagious! Hard to be upset around him and yes he did struggle a lot but like you said, he’s now pain-free and at peace."
Other friends, like Vince Griffin and Bree Keithley, also expressed their sorrow and sent love and condolences to Skyler’s family. "I’m so sorry for your loss sending all my love to you and his family xxx," wrote Vince. Cj Woelich expressed regret for not being able to see Skyler one last time, "You’re mf dog, Sky. Sorry I didn’t make it out to see you, bro. This prison shit fucked me up, dog. Know I love you, homie. R.I.P. DOG!"
The community’s outpouring of love and support highlights the impact Skyler had on those around him and the collective grief over his untimely passing.
