Sherri Smith, a beloved member of the Clarksville community, passed away after a severe medical battle. Known for her vibrant personality and generosity, Sherri’s final days were marked by intense medical challenges. On June 11th, she experienced severe pain, leading to a rapid decline in her health. Despite initial resistance, Sherri eventually sought medical help, revealing she had sepsis and an obstructed intestine.
Her condition worsened rapidly, resulting in multiple surgeries where significant portions of her intestines and spleen were removed. Complications from the surgery led to blood clots that severely affected her organs, including her kidneys and extremities.
Sherri briefly regained consciousness on June 17th, showing moments of clarity and expressing her love to her family. Despite brief signs of improvement, her condition remained critical. She ultimately chose to have her ventilator removed, honoring her long-held wish not to be kept alive by machines. Sherri passed away peacefully on June 21st, surrounded by her family.
In the aftermath, her family is facing unexpected financial burdens, prompting her friend Shannon Stepp to organize a fundraiser. The goal is to raise $8,000 to cover funeral expenses and essential living costs. So far, $125 has been raised from three donations. The community’s support is crucial to helping Sherri’s family during this difficult time.
