The late Semyon Nemchonok was a beloved teacher and refugee from Ukraine, residing in San Jose, California. He tragically passed away on June 16, 2024, after a brief but intense battle with a rare and aggressive form of cancer, which was diagnosed just five weeks prior. Despite his valiant fight, the treatments were unable to improve his condition or extend his life.
Semyon’s daughter, Olena Sappa, along with her good friend Natalya Tufail, are raising funds to honor his final wishes. Semyon desired to be cremated and buried next to his wife in Ukraine. To fulfill this wish, a GoFundMe campaign has been initiated with a goal of $5,000.
Natalya Tufail, organizing the fundraiser, expressed deep gratitude for any contributions to help bring Semyon back to his homeland, where he can rest in eternal peace. She highlighted Semyon’s impactful career as a teacher, where he touched many lives and made a significant difference in his students’ education.
As of now, the fundraiser is seeking its first supporters, and every donation is crucial in achieving the goal to honor Semyon’s memory and fulfill his final wish.
