The late Scott William Henson, affectionately known as Scoot or Big Cat, was a beloved figure in Coquitlam, BC. Known for his larger-than-life personality and his charisma that filled every room he entered, Scott’s sudden and untimely passing has left his family and friends in deep sorrow.
Scott was not just a wrestling fan; he lived his dream as a professional wrestler since 2002, performing locally, across the United States, and even in the United Kingdom and Australia. His trademark tiger suit, complete with claws and paws, made him a crowd favorite, often drawing cheers of "Let’s Go Big Cat, Meow, Meow, Meow." He held titles in various wrestling companies and entertained fans with his unique sense of humor and boundary-pushing antics.
Beyond the wrestling ring, Scott was known for his love of cats, his adventurous spirit in discovering new and interesting restaurants, and his passion for movies. His cats, especially his beloved Sebastian, were his pride and joy. Scott’s love for films led him to live stream and podcast about movies with his closest friends, sharing his insights and opinions with his audience.
Scott’s family, including his supportive parents and sister, were integral to his life. He cherished family dinners, trips to Tofino, and just being together. Even during the pandemic lockdown, Scott’s sense of humor shone through as he chose family time over keeping an untrimmed beard for their family trip.
The outpouring of support following Scott’s passing is a testament to the impact he had on those around him. Drew Smith organized a GoFundMe campaign to help Scott’s family celebrate his life and cover funeral expenses. The campaign has raised $4,872 CAD of its $7,500 goal with contributions from 32 donors. Notable donations include $3,000 from an anonymous donor and $200 from Kevin McCabe.
Drew Smith shared on Facebook, "As some of you may know, we’ve lost this amazing, funny, charismatic Cat-Man. Please take a moment to share this or donate if you can. Every little bit helps to support his family in this time of grief. Anything we raise that is surplus to requirements will be donated in Scott’s name to the SPCA."
Dana Henson expressed her gratitude, "We appreciate this so much and are so grateful to Drew Smith for organizing this."
Tim Lee, another friend, commented, "Donated and sharing. Any help I can be, I will, brother."
Scott’s friends and family are determined to honor his memory and ensure his legacy continues, with any additional funds from the campaign being donated to the local SPCA in Scott’s name. The community’s support highlights the profound effect Scott had on those who knew him and the importance of coming together in times of grief.
