The late mother of Christina Daugherty was from Louisville, Kentucky. The community and her family are grappling with the impending loss, and Christina has initiated a fundraiser to support her mother’s final fight against cancer and to cover the costs of her memorial.
Christina’s mother was diagnosed with neuroendocrine lung cancer in 2022. Despite undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, and immunotherapy, her condition has continued to deteriorate. A month ago, the family was informed that the treatments were no longer effective, and she was placed under hospice care with an initial prognosis of one year left to live. Unfortunately, her condition worsened rapidly, and now, just a few weeks later, doctors have given her only days.
Throughout this period, Christina’s father has been a constant presence, caring for his wife tirelessly while also facing financial hardships due to reduced work hours. Life insurance was not an option because of the terminal diagnosis, leaving the family to bear the full financial burden of her care and upcoming memorial.
Christina Daugherty has set up a GoFundMe campaign with a goal of $5,000 to cover the remaining medical bills and to ensure a beautiful memorial for her mother. As of now, the campaign has raised $125 from three donors. Despite the heartbreak, the family remains determined to honor Christina’s mother and manage the financial challenges left by this devastating illness.
