The late Ryan Cushman was a beloved member of the Mission Viejo community. His sudden death on June 2nd has left his family and friends in deep shock and mourning. Ryan was known for his cleverness, kindness, and hard work. He was a devoted husband to Christine Cushman for over 20 years and a loving father to their two children, Jake (17) and Lyla (11). The Cushman family is now facing an immense emotional and financial burden due to Ryan’s unexpected passing.
To support Christine and her children during this challenging time, Celeste Marquez has organized a GoFundMe campaign titled "Help Ease Christine’s Burden After Ryan’s Passing." The fundraiser has set a goal of $25,000, with $4,775 raised so far through 22 donations. The top donation of $1,000 came from Thomas McEachern, and the first donation of $200 was made by Jackie and Drew Levine. Recent donations continue to come in, including a $25 contribution from Colleen Coates.
Amanda Price expressed her deep sorrow on Facebook, writing, "There are no words to express the heartache and sadness of this post. Please donate what you can. Our Hearts & Prayers are with The Cushman’s & Family." The sentiment is echoed by others in the community. Lyndsi Holmes commented, "Omg no. This is horrible. Praying for everyone," while Shannon Sweitz simply stated, "Oh no!" Rosemary Tyszka offered her condolences with "So sorry for your loss," and Melissa Cochrane added, "Deepest condolences." Kristen Ledbetter’s reaction was one of disbelief: "Whaaaattt?!?! Oh no! How heartbreaking," and Sean Fraser shared his sympathy, "so sorry for you, Laura and many others!!"
The family has requested privacy as they grieve and navigate through this tragedy. They deeply appreciate the outpouring of support and prayers from friends and the community. Donations to the GoFundMe campaign will help alleviate the financial stress Christine faces as she arranges for Ryan’s funeral and manages the household responsibilities on her own.
Ryan’s loss has left a void in the lives of all who knew and loved him. The community’s support during this time reflects the high regard in which he was held and the collective desire to help his family through this difficult period.
