Robert "Bob" Neal Bay from Utica, Ohio, passed away following a tragic accident. The community is mourning his loss and rallying to support his family. Bob was hit by a car while riding his bicycle, and the driver did not stop. He was taken to the hospital, where he remained unresponsive until his passing.
Bob’s son, Robert Bay, has been deeply affected by his father’s death. On the fundraising page for his father’s headstone, he shared, "My dad and I were very close but hadn’t had the opportunity to spend as much time together as a typical father and son. But the time we spent together over the last 13 years affected my life and myself emotionally as well as my outlook more than my service term on active duty with the 1st Infantry Division."
The fundraiser, titled "Everyone deserves a headstone," was organized by Robert Bay to cover the costs of his father’s headstone, as the family is struggling with these expenses. As of now, $300 has been raised out of a $3,500 goal through three donations. Bob’s grandson, Robert Bay, explained, "We have wonderful family who has come together to pay for his funeral, but to pay the cost of a headstone is beyond what we could ever come up with at this point, sadly."
Bob Bay was known for his larger-than-life personality. His son described him as "a hard worker, could fix just about anything and would help anyone no matter the time of day." He was also light-hearted and had the ability to light up a room. Bob had recently reconnected with a daughter who was given up for adoption at birth, and they were supposed to meet this summer.
Cassandra Faye Bay shared on Facebook, urging people to donate or share the GoFundMe campaign, expressing the family’s need for support. The community’s response has been heartfelt, with many coming together to honor Bob’s memory and support his family during this difficult time.
Bob’s legacy as a devoted father, a skilled handyman, and a generous individual who lived life to the fullest will be remembered by all who knew him.
