Raymon Perrault tragically lost his life on the morning of June 21st, 2024, when he was run down by Deputy Larson of the Mackinac County Sheriff’s Department while riding his motorcycle to work. Larson initially claimed the incident was due to multiple felony warrants, but it was later revealed that it was related to a child support warrant. This unnecessary and tragic loss has left his family and community in deep mourning.
Raymon was known as a good man, beloved by his many friends and family. He leaves behind two young children who will now face a future without their father, missing out on holidays, birthdays, and many cherished moments.
In the wake of this sudden tragedy, Raymon’s family has been faced with unexpected and substantial expenses for his cremation, burial plot, headstone, and other funeral-related costs. Although the Sault tribe has assisted with a portion of the expenses, the family still needs additional funds to cover the remaining costs. To this end, Deborah Alkire, Raymon’s sister, has organized a GoFundMe campaign titled "Support for Raymon’s Family in Tragic Times" with a goal of $10,000.
The community has rallied around the family, offering support and condolences. On Facebook, Brenda St. Andrew, Raymon’s grandmother, shared the details of his graveside service, which will be held on July 10th at 1:30 pm at the tribal cemetery on 134.
Heidi Jenerou expressed her intent to attend the service, saying, "I love you so much Aunt Brenda and my heart just breaks for you!" Dawn B. Robbins also extended her sympathies, saying, "For You Aunt Brenda St. Andrew & Family," while Lorraine Powers added, "So sorry for your families loss!! Prayers, hugs and love to all!" The outpouring of love and support continued with many others, including Paul Cullen, Pam Kaminsky, Margaret Adams Mangold, Cheri Beeck, and Janine Beeck-Card, all expressing their condolences and offering prayers and hugs.
Raymon’s sister, Deborah, highlighted the profound impact of the support they have received, noting, "You have no idea how much it means to us and how much it has helped keep our hearts from completely crumbling to pieces. We love you all and thank you for everything. It truly is humbling to see how many people stand behind my brother and our family in this difficult time."
Donations to the GoFundMe campaign can be made online, or directly to the Galor Funeral Home in Pickford, MI. For those unable to donate, the family appreciates any form of support, be it a hug or kind words.
Raymon Perrault’s untimely death serves as a heartbreaking reminder of life’s fragility and the importance of cherishing every moment with loved ones. His family’s call for help underscores the community’s collective strength and compassion during such devastating times.
