The late Ray Gomez was from Bridgeport, Connecticut. The community and his family are struggling to prepare for his burial and support his seven children, so this news is devastating. Ray’s sister, Jeanette Lopez, is fundraising for his funeral and the needs of his children. She has described their struggle due to the financial burden following his death.
For Ray’s burial and his family’s financial needs, Jeanette Lopez created a GoFundMe campaign. Raising $100,000 is her goal. The family is seeking help to cover funeral expenses as well as lawyer fees, aiming to alleviate the financial stress during this difficult time.
Ray Gomez was known for his selflessness and genuine nature. Jeanette Lopez writes, "Ray Gomez was the most selfless, raw, genuine soul to those who were graced by his presence." She continues, "He was a kind friend to many, a thoughtful son, a compassionate brother, a loving and warming husband, and most importantly the most amazing father to all of his seven children."
His sister, Rosalie Awilda Matos, also expressed her gratitude for any support received. "We are trying to raise money to help with the expenses of everything that’s to come for my sister and their children. Anything helps and is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much."
The community has started to rally around the fundraiser, with early donations already coming in. Gina Caro Valencia contributed $100, Juan Sosa donated $50, and two anonymous donors gave $30 and $20 respectively.
Ray Gomez’s legacy as a strong provider and a loving family man remains strong even after his passing. The family hopes to ease their financial burden to allow his wife and children to grieve without added worry.
