Randy Long, aged 65, passed away on May 2nd, 2022, leaving behind his wife, family, and many friends. Born and raised in West Jefferson, Ohio, Randy was a beloved member of his tight-knit community. He spent his life on the same street he grew up on, raising his family there.
Randy served in the US National Guard and worked for the Ohio Seed Company, among other trucking and distribution companies. Known for his love of fishing, walking the streets of West Jefferson, and tinkering in his garage or garden, Randy’s spirit of compassion and his one-liner jokes left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
In memory of Randy’s life and contributions to the community, his family, led by Leza Holloway, has organized a fundraiser to support the legacy he left behind. They aim to raise $1,500 to purchase a park bench for the West Jefferson Parks and Recreation department. Additional funds will be used for community enhancements close to the hearts of Randy’s family and friends.
The fundraiser has currently raised $50 from one donor, Alice McDowell. The community is invited to a relaxed memorial event on Sunday, July 21st, 2024, at Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park, where attendees can honor Randy in a manner befitting his down-to-earth nature.
