Randy Harchenko, from Salem, Oregon, passed away on June 12, 2024, due to pancreatic cancer. His passing has left his family and friends grieving deeply. Randy did not have any funds set aside for his passing, prompting his daughter, Miranda Whitney, to organize a fundraiser to cover his funeral costs and expenses.
Miranda Whitney has started a GoFundMe campaign titled "Support for Randy Harchenko’s Funeral Costs." The goal of the fundraiser is to raise $7,000, and so far, $175 has been raised through three donations.
In a Facebook post, Miranda Benson shared the GoFundMe link, encouraging others to donate and share the campaign. She expressed gratitude for the donations received and emphasized that any amount of support would be greatly appreciated.
The donations include $75 from David Arnold, $50 from Brenden Beaman, and $50 from Lynn McMillen. These contributions, although small in number, reflect the early support from the community.
Miranda Whitney wrote on the GoFundMe page, "As most of you know, I recently lost my dad, Randy Harchenko. He passed away on June 12, 2024, from pancreatic cancer. As he did not have any funds set aside for his passing, we are trying to raise funds to cover his funeral costs and expenses. Any assistance you can give would be a huge help."
The community’s response has been heartwarming, but there is still a long way to go to reach the fundraising goal. The fundraiser highlights the financial burdens that often accompany the loss of a loved one, particularly when there are no savings or insurance to cover final expenses.
